Assoc Prof Dr Safiah Yusof received her Bachelor of Science & Master of Science in Mathematics, and Education Doctorate in Instructional Process from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE), Edwardsville, Illinois, USA.  She has taught in several colleges in the States including Art Institute of Dallas, Maryville University of St. Louis, Ms Wade’s Fashion Merchandising College, Belleville Area Community College and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. In 1999, she embarked in online learning and received online facilitator training through Socrates Distance Learning Technologies Group. Dr Safiah then proceeded to facilitate fully online courses for the Art Institute Online, a division of Art Institute of Pittsburgh until  2007. She was also an SME periodically for Education Management Corporation (EDMC), Pittsburg, in curriculum and content development for online courses during that period.

Dr Safiah joined Open University Malaysia (OUM), Kuala Lumpur, in October 2008.  While maintaining the role of an academic at OUM, she has also had the opportunity to hold different positions including the Deputy Director and Head of e-Learning /Online Tutor Support Unit for the Institute for Teaching and Learning Advancement (ITLA) to oversee the management of online delivery and support for online learning at OUM.  Since October 2017 Dr Safiah has been serving as Head of the International Operations Unit at OUM.
